Who are we?

We're Deb and Matt Robinson and we've been running modern jive classes here in Christchurch since 2005. We're passionate about making dance accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We're also active on the competition scene - unbeaten in the Advanced Open and Ceroc X categories.

Impressed by some of the big moves on Dancing With The Stars? we are 3 times winners of the Advanced Open category where we also get to do big lifts and aerial moves.

Deb - I've been dancing for years. My background is ballroom dancing and have competed and assisted in the teaching of many ballroom dance styles in Australia. I love the freedom and fun that modern jive brings to dancing. I love dancing with guys of all levels, from complete beginners to the most advanced. Everyone is happy to dance with everyone else which is what makes our classes and parties so enjoyable.

Matt - I love teaching beginner classes and still remember how terrified I was during the first few months when I attended classes many years ago in London. I was utterly hopeless and sometimes would leave before the end of the class. However I've always wanted to be able to lead a partner on the dance floor - it's just one of those basic skills that every man should have, like being able to use a hammer - so I stuck with it. Fortunately I've since improved and now have a few trophies on the mantlepiece.
