Coffee Time > Health > Goodbye Earthquakes, Hello Life

Hi i'm rhys, i'm 3 and a half (Jan 2012).

I don't smoke

I don't gamble

I don't drink alcohol

I don't over eat

I don't watch the news

I don't read the papers

I do go to preschool

I do like 'playing toys' with daddy

I do like dancing, especially to The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart and anything by Lady Gaga

Apparently, since February last year some grown ups are drinking more, smoking more and gambling more (whatever that is but it all sounds pretty bad to me and a bit silly). Some even watch the news all the time as they say it helps them cope with their anxiety. Seems to me that focussing on it all the time just makes it worse - like hitting yourself on the head with a hammer to cure a headache.

I'm just a toddler and all I know is that there's no past, no future, only now, that's where I live and I have lots of activities at preschool and at home that help keep my attention there.

It might be a bit embarrassing for you to enroll in a preschool but you could go to one of mummy's dance classes. The people are warm and friendly just like you, the music is upbeat and varied from modern day chart toppers to golden oldies, and you get to exercise without even realising it. It's not escaping from life - it is life.

Alternatively, come play with some of us kids. We're always looking for people to play with us, read us stories, laugh with us, watch a bit of TV with us - not that hyped up gloom and doom stuff you call news, but something like Blues Clues or anything by Pixar Studios like Toy Story or Cars. We've got wicked imaginations and we're really good at role play so any interaction is the greatest fun.

Say Goodbye to earthquakes, the negative media, the negative coping behaviours and instead say Hello Life.

By the way, daddy helped me write this. He's certainly no Mr Spiritual-Perfectly-Balanced-Meditating-Buddah, he says he's lucky to have me and apparently I'm the best spiritual consultant eva because I don't walk the talk - I just do the walk.
