Welcome to all of our new dancers who have recently started dancing modern jive with Ceroc Christchurch. This newsletter is sent out every couple of weeks to keep you up to date with our classes, news and events.

We are so excited to launch our fab Super Ceroc Dance Weekend programme and booking forms this week. Bookings are only available on paper or PDF at the moment but will be open online soon.

Join our Facebook group for social news, chat and dance links. For example, I've recently added some links to some brilliant ice dancing videos, details of free Post-Quake Seminars from the Heart Foundation, and there has been a bunch of chat about buying dance shoes.

Super Ceroc dance weekend - 13-15 April

Yes, it's back this year and it's going to be fantastic. Details are online now for our fab weekend of dance and dance related events.

You will have a ball with all the great activities to choose from...
- 3 great social events,
- 7 workshops (including subjects from cool new moves to aerials, and from styling to martial arts!),
- join a flash mob,
- wonderful demos to see,
- shop at the dance expo, and more!

We are including a free workshop for everyone who attends the Friday night party, and a goodie bag for all those who register for the full weekend.

Everybody needed for flash mob! SUNDAY

We want to launch a Ceroc flash mob on Chch somewhere this Sunday. I have a plan...

A Flash Mob is a group of people who appear to spontaneously do something unexpected in public like dance, sing or play statues. They unite for a couple of minutes and then suddenly they dissipate into the crowd again.

We need dancers as well as a few sneaky photographers. If you are interested in being there in any role please email me so I can add you to a mailing list to get all the details, a link to a video of the routine to learn, etc.

Intermediate 1 Workshop - 11 March

This workshop will cover 9 standard intermediate moves in depth. The benefit of a workshop like this is the intensive session for working on favourite and commonly used intermediate moves in a small group with two teachers, one male and one female.

Crew needed @ Avonhead

Are you addicted to Ceroc yet? Want to be a part of the fabric of our dance night? Want to earn some extra cash?

We need someone to Set-up and pack-down at Avonhead School, both on Wednesdays (the new permanent venue for iCeroc) and on Fridays. Ideally we are looking for one person who can do both venues.

If you are at all interested then please contact us for more details. Feel free to talk to Matt, Deb, Hazel or Jonno for more info and to see if it's a role that would suit you.

This Week's Ceroc Tip...

Sharp or bulky accessories such as jewellery or watches should be removed when dancing, for the sake of your partners. We've had a complaint or two about sharp rings scratching the guys lately.

Guys - please always empty your pockets before you do close moves, leans, laybacks, dips and drops with ladies. Even a scrunched hanky in your pocket can be quite uncomfortable in certain moves.

Ceroc Dance Kapiti-Hutt Regional Champs 2012

16 & 17 March at the Lower Hutt Town Hall

ENTRIES ARE OPEN for the Kapiti-Hutt Regional Champs 2012. The huge Ice Breaker Dance Party will kick off the weekend on Friday night 16 March. For 2012 there are six Classical Freestyle categories available to choose from, four Fun categories (yes you could do them all!!), and two outstanding Performance categories: Showcase and Teams. All you have to do is complete your registration, either online or by post.
Everything you need to know about the Champs, including online registrations, can be accessed through our Champs page.
All entries must be received by the close off date of 2 March 2012. We look forward to seeing you all in March.

There is a big bunch of dancers going from Chch - come with us for a fun weekend, even if you just watch, there is plenty of freeestyle included - Deb
