Lead
Don't tell the lady what she's doing wrong, lead her well so that she does it right.
Take responsibility
Think what can I do with MY dancing to improve THEIR dancing.
Move selection
When dancing with someone of a lower level, lead moves at their level.
Don't Teach
Don't teach your partner moves on the dance floor (unless specifically asked) -
if the lady isn't able to follow the move, don't keep trying to show her.
Look after your partner
Avoid obstacles and avoid other dancers, it is your responsibility to keep your partner out of the way of other dancers.
Go with the flow
The only thing you can do wrong is to lead nothing, if the lady doesn't go where you expect her to, go with it,
and keep dancing.
Trust your partner
Trust that your partner is doing the best they can to follow your lead.
Listen to the music
How does it make you feel? Strong? Energetic? Dramatic? Cautious?
Play up the personality of the song with your face and the way you move your body.
Ask for feedback
If you want to improve your dancing - ask for feedback from people you dance with.
Give your partner some limitations ie "I'm working on my posture, so while we are dancing
can you let me know when I drop my shoulders?" or, "I'm really trying to improve my dancing,
after this song can you please give me one thing I can work on to get better?".
Dance with lots of different people
If you dance with lots of people, your dancing will improve, and you will develop a much clearer lead.
